Cheap Brochure Printing
In one of our previous articles entitled “Choosing a Brochure Printer”, we touched on some of the bait and switch tactics used by cheap brochure printing companies.
Now, just to clarify, when we’re speaking of “cheap brochure printing”, we’re not solely talking about price, although insanely low prices and cost are usually the first sign of quality limitations. There are many reputable printers in the industry that can offer great prices on high-quality, full-color brochures, such as our website, ImageMEDIA.com, by combining similar jobs and printing them in a “gang-run” format. This allows the company to save money on consumable prices while maintaining the high standards of the printing industry.
Just to recap, here’s a list of some red flags we exposed earlier; true, tell tale signs of a cheap brochure printer.
1) The production cost doesn’t include scoring or folding. If it’s not scored and folded, IT’S NOT A BROCHURE! When you receive a quote, make sure it shows that folds are included.
2) Cheap brochure printing is printed on cheap paper. There’s no weight to give it any sense of value. The paper will also most likely lack in quality and gloss.
3) The cost for printing is limited in color selection and numbers. Often times, you can only select one or two colors on the outside and the same for the inside, as opposed to the limitless capabilities of full-color printing on both sides. Again, your quote should disclose this information.
4) Cheap brochure printing is sometimes printed digitally on obsolete equipment. If the printer isn’t willing to invest in state-of-the-art, up-to-date equipment, then you probably shouldn’t be willing to invest in them. Why chance your businesses success with a sub-par printer? Digitally printed brochures can produce high-quality brochures IF quality equipment is utilized. If the brochure is going to be printed digitally, find out what kind of machine it’s printed on.
5) Poor customer service is a big sign that you’re dealing with a cheap printer. If you have a difficult time getting someone on the phone to answer questions or provide an accurate quote, you may be dealing with a lack of resources in the company. A lack of resources can mean that they may have unqualified personnel handling your printing. This can result in unnecessary downtime, extended turnarounds, and a poor quality end product.
These were a few of the subjects that we touched on earlier. The important thing to understand is when you’re shopping for cheap brochure printing, you DON’T have to settle for a cheap final product. Due diligence in your research will help you determine which print shops are running legitimate, high-quality operations and which are not.
Here’s an extra tip. Just because a printer has a nice website DOES NOT mean they have the best product. Be very cautious. A print shop is more than just a pretty face on a website.
With a little research, you’ll be able to find that diamond in the rough printing company that provides the best product for the best price. Hopefully, you’ve taken a look here on imageMEDIA.com and found that we are it. But if you’ve found another company that offers the “same” products for less, be sure to read the fine print. If all checks out, come back to us. We’ll be happy to beat the best price you can find, apples to apples.
